I’ve been using this homemade anti aging cream with Uccuba butter, argan oil, shea butter and camelia seed oil for two months now and have noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin: less fine lines, more even tone, and it’s also helping to keep my acne at bay.
The best part of this DIY anti-wrinkle recipe is that there is no beeswax! I’ve also used a blend of essential oils that helps fight the signs of aging on your face.
It seems like there’s always a new lotion, serum or beauty product being touted for its anti-aging properties. Of course, we all want to keep our skin healthy, glowing and in great condition – but there’s no shame in aging! And no matter what you are putting on your skin, we’re all going to show some signs of aging. I say let’s try to age well while staying healthy.
For me, the trick is to use a skincare routine that nourishes and protects the skin naturally. The better you take care of your skin, the more gracefully you will age – and you don’t need harsh chemicals or expensive products to do it! In my opinion, a homemade anti-aging cream and a healthy diet with yoga is all you need.
Due to its inherently nourishing ingredients, it’s also great for mature and sun-damaged skin, which is why I call it an anti-aging cream. Due to its richness, I prefer to use this as a night cream.
Superstar anti-aging ingredients
Ucuuba butter is made from the seeds of the ucuuba plant, which is native to South America. It’s very high in Vitamin C, which helps to reverse DNA damage, and also in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is commonly known as retinol in the beauty industry, and is often used in top-of-the-line skincare products to treat acne, fine lines, and other signs of aging – which is why it’s a superstar ingredient in this anti-aging cream.
Argan oil is made from the kernels of the argan tree, native to Morocco. Its incredibly moisturizing, which is why you often see it advertised in commercial, hydrating hair products. But, it’s also high in Vitamin E, Vitamin A and antioxidants, which help it to both hydrate and tone the skin.
I discovered argan oil while on a trip in Morroco 10 years ago. If I had known how popular it would become I would have bought shares of the oils and could have been a millionaire!
Shea butter is made from the nut of the African shea tree. It is a rich nut butter that is naturally soothing to the skin, and high in anti-aging Vitamin E. A high fatty acid content enables it to nourish the skin and fight signs of aging as well.
Camelila seed oil is an edible plant oil, originally from China. It is rich in omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants, making it an anti-aging superstar to complete this homemade anti-aging cream.
Both ucuuba butter and argan oil have a strong smell. This is why I suggest using a blend of essential oils to mask the natural odor of these anti-aging superstars. Furthermore, essential oils pack their own hydrating and anti-aging benefits. Essential oils like frankincense and rose geranium oils, smell incredible and also boost the skin clarifying and anti-aging potency of your homemade anti-aging cream.
Frankincense oil is made from the resin of the Boswellia sacra tree, native to Somalia and the Middle East. It is potent with antioxidants and has been using to boost skin health for hundreds of years.
Rose geranium essential oil is distilled from a rose-scented geranium flower, and has a soothing effect on the skin. It has natural antiseptic properties which make it ideal for treating inflammatory conditions like eczema and acne – and it smells great!

Hello, I love this anti-aging cream recipe. Also, do you think I could ad some Sea buckthorn oil or some water of sea buckthorn fruit? Thank you. Andree
Author
Hi andree! thanks for the ratings! you could use this Sea Buckthorn Carrier Oil in small amounts, not more than 5% because otherwise, it may stain the skin and sheets. In this recipe, just add a few drops to test how it works out for you!
Hi, I don’t know how to post my own thread. I tried the recipe but it makes my eyes water a little. Like maybe the fumes are too much, what could I have too much of?
Hi Eve, would you be able to substitute the Ho Wood for Helichrysum?
Author
definitely!
Just made this for the first time. It is a bit greasy and my skin is having trouble absorbing. It is also leaving residue on my pillow at night. Is there any modification that might make it a little less greasy and/or easy for my skin to absorb? Or any other suggestions you might have? Thanks!
Rice starch I think is the best starch (you can also use non gmo corn starch or arrowroot or even kaolin clay that has been micronized with silica if you are acne prone) to make any home made cream or butter less greasy. But only add very little and test (always remember too: it takes a few days for things to fully settle to be able to get the best feel for how it will wear day after day) cuz if you put too much you’ll get a white-ish look but rice is the best for that problem since its’ particles are the smallest
hi! can a i store this in aluminium tin containers?
I have just come across this website and am addicted! Great recipes. Just a quick question I’m 21 but really like the look of your anti-aging face serum. Am I too young to start using it? would you recommend another face serum better suited for younger skin?
Hi Eve .
I’m from Slovenia and I found your website on the net, which is wonderful.
I’m 55 years old and I decide between creams :Face Cream With Sacha Inchi Oil,
DIY Face Moisturizer with Royal Jelly and Anti Aging Cream Without Beeswax .
I want my wrinkles to soften and make my skin tense. Which creams do you recommend? What in the morning and in the evening?
thank you
Author
They are all good options but I recommend the DIY Face Moisturizer with Royal Jelly, enjoy Karmen!
Can I use Rose hip instead of argan oil? Would there be any real difference?
Author
yes, they are different oils with different properties.
Rosehip is a great choice tho, more dry and less greasy than argan.
Hi Eve. That sounds great! Homemade Anti Aging Cream Without Beeswax is interesting. I’m going to try your way next weekend. I’m over 35 and I really worry about sign of aging so your post is very helpful. I have my face look dull and I use skin lightening cream. Is it possible to use my cream together with your homemade anti-aging?
Author
You don’t need to use commercial skin creams once you have switched over homemade creams! that will save you some money and you can control the ingredients you put on your skin.
Do you have to melt and then freeze the butters? Or can you just put everything together and mix with a blender. The blending should warm the butters up enough to allow them to blend together. Unless there’s a reason you heat them and then cool them.
Author
its explained step by step in the blog post, melt, then freeze and there is a reason for it. Makes it more fluffy.
How much by volume does this recipe yield
Author
its 12 tablespoons so about 177 ml.
Hi Cool .. Do we need to add any Preservative? May i know the shelf life of this Cream..
Thanks in Advance
Author
no need for preservatives because there are no water content!
Why would we avoid Beeswax.can you educate me, am new to this whole thing of diys
Author
If you are vegan, then you want to avoid any animal or insect-related products like beeswax. Some people are allergic to bee products also.
Hi we made this recipe and it really works great!
Our only problem is the smell. We added the essential oils and the Ucuuba smell is still way way too strong. Can you recommend how to hide the smell?
Author
you could use refined ucuuba butter, that will help get rid of the smell. If this is not an option, try doubling the amount of essential oils but you may still have the slight smell from the ucuuba butter.
Hello, Could I make a face cream just using Organic shea butter and argan oil?
Author
definitely!
I will be trying this recipe in the new year. The ingredients look fabulous and love that it is simple and straight forward. Thanks@
Hi Eve,
I just made this anti-aging crepe to give out as gifts. I hope everyone likes it. Do you have any suggestions on how to clean the hand mixer? It gets stuck under the blades
Author
That’s great Sharon! Just wipe it carefully with a paper towel. Then rinse it with hot water and wash it with soap or put it in the dishwasher on high temperature once you have clean more of it.
Hi ,what can I use to sub for argon oil and camelia oil?
Author
You could substitute argan oil and camelia oil by safflower oil. Please use the same proportion.
To be honest argan oil has anti-aging properties so it is great to use in this recipe!
Hello Eve! Your website is fantastic!
Could you give me the concentration (%) os this recipe?
Thank you!
Author
Thanks Itiana,
so here it is:
3 tablespoons of uccuba butter (25%)
1 tablespoon of shea butter (8%)
3 tablespoons of argan oil (25%)
5 tablespoons of camelia seed oil (40%)
Hope this helps 🙂
Hi! There is no Uccuba butter or camellia oil in my country, with what could I replace them? Thank you!
P.S. Love your recipes!
Author
Hi Jovana! you can use shea butter instead of uccuba butter and safflower or sunflower oil instead of camelia seed oil. This changes the recipe and will not have the same properties but it should work if you use the same proportion/ratio.
Hi Eve!
this sounds really interesting! I’d love to use coconut oil as well cause I’ve read there are great properties for anti aging and hydratation.
Is there any chance I can I add coconut oil to this recipe? and in which proportions?
Thank you so much Eve.
Author
Hi Luisa, coconut oil face be comedogen, which means promote black heads on clog pore on the face. So I don’t really recommend substituting it in this recipe. If you want to do a body cream, then thats fine!
Thank you for this recipe, this cream is used as a day or night cream ?
Author
both, up to you!
I do not understand. In the recipe you say …Step 1
Melt cocoa butter, coconut oil, shea butter and carnauba wax in a double boiler.
Once melted, add the sunflower oil.
In the recipe you do not have cocoa butter or wax???
I am confused so is the above recipe correct? I did not understand your reply to Izzy.
Author
I made a typo, there is no cocoa butter or wax, disregard this. The recipe is updated now and it is correct.
Hi,I want to make this cream but there is a difference between the instruction and the recipe. You mention Carnauba and sunflower and Camelia Seed oil and Ucuuba. Which is the correct one? Thank you for your time.
Author
I made a typo, there is no cocoa butter, no sunflower oil or wax, disregard this. The recipe is updated now and it is correct.
hai sister.. instead of ho wood essential oil any other substitute?
Author
it depends for which use. If its for the recipe above, Ho wood could be replaced by Rosewood essential oil. Or you could just omit it all together.
Hello Eve,
Am happy to read about this recipe. Would definitely want to try making this. I am new to this whole process but hope to get a decent one made on first attempt.
On quick note can we use this cream for face and body ?
Regards,
Swapna
Author
you could but argan oil is expensive I would only use it on my face.
How long will this cream last?
Author
6 months to a year, depending on the shelf life of the oil and butter you are using.

Thanks for sharing Eve. Sounds Awesome!! Cant wait to try. What’s the alternative for ucuuba butter?
Author
Hi Deepa, uccuba is the main ingredients that is anti aging stimulate collagen. That said if you cannot find it, you could try replacing it by cocoa butter or shea butter.
I look forward to trying this, however I’m confused about the instructions: your ingredients call for accuba butter, argan oil, Shea butter & camelia seed, but the instructions refer to coconut oil, carnauba wax, shea butter and sunflower oil – did something get mixed up? Thanks!
