Carrot seed oil is high in Vitamin A and E, beta carotene and also contains carotenoid which provides natural protection against the effect of UV radiation; it will give your skin a discreet and natural golden glow. This Carrot Face Cream Recipe is also full of antioxidants which make it a perfect every day anti-wrinkle cream. I have added aloe Vera to help with acne and to repair the skin.
The essential oils are optional but are a great combo for a natural anti-aging face cream.
If carrots are not your things, take a look at my other face cream recipes. Enjoy!
Carrot Face Cream Recipe Ingredients
Aloe vera juice comes from a type of succulent plant that likely originated in Africa. It contains a healing gel inside of its spiky leaves that is a natural anti-inflammatory and soothing agent for the skin. It’s high in antioxidants so that it has an anti-aging effect, and is also naturally antibacterial, making it ideal for treating acne. It’s high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as B vitamins. When purchasing aloe vera juice, look for one that’s certified organic by a third party and that is 100% aloe vera juice.
Carrot seed oil is made from pressing the seeds of the carrot plant. Often labeled as cold-pressed carrot seed oil, be sure to choose this one over carrot seed essential oil. The carrot seed essential oil is made from the seeds of the Queen Anne’s Lace plant and has different properties. Carrot seed oil is high in vitamins and antioxidants that nourish the skin. It is a moisturizing oil that helps to repair and rejuvenate the skin. It also improves skin elasticity making it ideal for anti-aging face creams. Look for cold-pressed oils that are 100% carrot seed oil.
Camellia seed oil comes from the seeds of the camellia flower. It originated in China and is the secret behind mand ancient Asian beauty practices. It’s a non-greasy oil that keep skin smooth and supple. Its high content of Omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid and palmitic acid nourish skin and help to improve its elasticity. The camellia plant is also the same plant green tea comes from, so its oil is high in antioxidants that nourish and protect the skin.
Shea butter is a nourishing nut butter made from the African shea tree. In this recipe, I use refined shea butter instead of raw shea butter. While raw shea butter has more nutritive properties, I do not like the strong smell in this recipe. The refined shea butter also lends a smoother texture while still adding nourishing fatty acids and vitamin E that help to form a protective barrier on the skin. Be careful to check labels when purchasing refined shea butter to make sure that it is not mixed with anything else.
Essential oils
Carrot seed essential oil is also called for in this recipe. Don’t confuse it with the carrot seed oil! Carrot seed essential oil stimulates cell renewal, helping it to fight wrinkles. It repairs damaged skin and can be beneficial for conditions like rosacea, and it’s also a natural antifungal. When purchasing carrot seed essential oil, look for a 100% distillation.
Lavender, rose geranium and frankincense essential oils are plant-derived oils that lend a pleasant fragrance and additionally nutritive properties to this recipe. Lavender essential oil is naturally soothing to the skin and reduces redness.
Rose geranium essential oil helps to prevent pores from becoming clogged and can help to reduce acne.
Frankincense essential oil has long been lauded for its anti-aging properties. It helps to tighten skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
For the highest quality essential oils look for 100% distillations that have not been blended with carrier oils and look for organic certification by a credible third party.

Now crafty ladies, tell me what are your thoughts about this amazing Carrot Face Cream Recipe?
I hope you have enjoyed my recipe, please share the love and rate ***** in the comments below!
Hi eve,
how long would this mixture last for without preservatives? Does it need to be kept in the fridge? will it become contaminated if water gets in the jar?
Hello Eve just wondering if there is a substitute for the bee’s wax. I would like to make the cream vegan.
Just purchasing the ingredients to make a couple of your recipes. I’m very excited to try these out. Beautiful, natural and the ingredients ethically sourced. I will feel so good using them. Thank you.
Is it possible to make this recipe without the aloe Vera gel?
Author
yes but it would be much thicker and more like a butter instead of a cream. You could use a hydrosol (rose for example) instead of aloe vera!
Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I had purchased carrot seed oil and rosehip oil from an essential oil wholesaler. How many drops of rosehip oil should I add?
Author
you could use rosehip oil instead of the camelia seed oil but this would change the recipe.
As for carrot seed oil, please follow the recipe, I use 1/2 a tsp of carrot seed oil.
Also, as mentioned, do not use more than 5% dilution in your cream, using it at 100% may cause an orange discoloration of the skin.
What if I want to make more of the face cream for store what preservative will I add
Author
for natural preservatives, check out this blog post https://www.organic-beauty-recipes.com/top-3-natural-preservatives-diy-beauty/
For stores, you won’t have a choice but using chemical preservatives, this is why I recommend making your own DIY products.
Hi, can I put more drops of carrot seed oil? Is it too strong that you have only put 2 drops? Can I also add frankincense? If so, how many drops? Thank you
Author
I personally don’t like the scent of carrot scent essential oil, 2 drops is enough. Less is more for essential oils.
Please ma’am i was fair before but now dark, what can i use to get back my fair colour
pls,I would like to make this cream but where exactly can I can the ingredients here in abuja
This is the first time ever i tried to make my own lotion. after the mixture cooled to room temperature, I tried to use it, and it has tiny beeswax pellets. I applied it to my skin, and the tiny beeswax pellets did not absorb. I wiped them off with a towel. i really like it otherwise. do you have an advice on how to get better consistency?
Author
Hi Marina, are you sure its beeswax pellets?
You need to ensure you have completely melted all the ingredients before starting mixing to start the emulsification process.
sometimes the shea butter gives a grainy feeling if you use the raw shea butter. That’s why I prefer to use refine shea butter.
If you use distilled aloe Vera available in decent health food stores – you’ll get a longer shelf life. I’ve learned this from experience.
I’ve had some people state that they think distilled aloe isn’t very useful. I’ve actually found the exact opposite. It’s a great addition to natural products which allows the use of less preservatives.
I love this recipe I tried it today and it came out great!
Author
awesome! thanks cristina 🙂
The cream that is available in the market is two years old. What should be done if you have to store carrot face cream for two years
Author
this is not for sale, make your own small batch as needed. otherwise you need nasty preservatives.
Using the correct carrier oils (e.g. sesame seed oil ) that have a high SPF factor and essential oils that are not photo-toxic and are known to be beneficial when out in the sun, this makes a lovely sunscreen. I found it a little greasy for my face so I substituted the beeswax for Olivem 100 (emulsifier) and this also turned out very well indeed. Thank you for you recipe
Thanks for the recipe. Please where can one buy those ingredients required?
Author
Hi Victor, you can buy it on amazon here https://www.organic-beauty-recipes.com/carrot-seed-oil-am – the links are inside the blog post!
Hello. How can I make the cream thicker?
Author
add more shea butter.
Hi, is there a difference between carrot seed oil and carrot seed essential oil?
Thanks
Author
Hi Clare, yes there is a big difference. Carrot seed essential oil is made from distilling the essence of the plant from steam distillation of carrot seeds from the plant Queen Anne’s Lace. It is very potent and only a few drops should be used diluted in your cream. Carrot seed oil is a carrier oil (or vegetable oil) made from cold pressing the carrot seeds the plant called Queen Anne’s Lace.
hello EVE
I would like to know what is water phase & which Natural emulsifier you have used.
Regards
Rupali
Author
Hi Rupali, the water phase is the aloe vera. the natural emulsifier is the beeswax.
hi Eve,
thanks for this recipe
please is it possible you give the percentage quantity of these ingredients?
thanks
Just curious if it would make a big difference to use aloe vera gel vs juice?
Author
it would make the recipe a little thicker but you could use aloe vera gel.
Hi eve please I need an organic recipe that can really tone and glow my skin,I am dark in complexion and I want to look like halfcast
2nd try now, out of all the ingredients but I can’t get mine to thicken up and whipped like crazy. I know I used the exact ingredients. What could cause this?
Author
did you use the exact same ratio as in the recipe above?
Hello Eve and thank you for this recipe.
In the cream Imade the watter/y part of the cream separates from the more solid parts. Why Dies that happen? I did not have carrot Seed oil and used carrot oil instead.
Thank you
Author
Hi Aga, it may be because the aloe vera is to cold in comparison with the oils. They should be at the same temperature for the emulsion to take place.
If you still having trouble, increase slightly the amount of beeswax and shea butter.
I have ur recipe with all the ingredients wich are listed above with exact measurements but my cream is not yellow in color and how shd I measure 5% of carrot oil? DO I did to dilute 5% of carrot oil with carrier oil? Cn u Teme in detail
Author
You need 0.5 teaspoon of carrot seed oil, it’s mentioned in the recipe ingredient list above.
But y is my cream not in yellow color I added everything as mentioned and ordered the oils from ur link .
Author
Hi Amula, is the carrot seed oil you bought orange or yellow in color? Please post the link of the one you bought.
The carrot seed oil is what gives the cream its yellow / orange color.

Author
Oh this is because this oil is an infusion of Carrot Seed Oil in Jojoba oil with vitamin E. It not pure carrot seed oil. So I would increase the dosage of the carrot seed oil to 2 teaspoons and 2 teaspoons of camellia seed oil.
If it is not yellow enough, try 3 teaspoons of carrot seed oil, 1 teaspoon of camellia seed oil.
The carrot seed oil I had at home was bought in a store nearby.
Please let me know how it goes!
Hai.Can I use Carrot oil made from grated carrot &coconut oil instead of carrot seed oil.

Author

Thank you!
Hi Eve,
Is it possible to use a preservative with this cream, like preservative eco to prolong to the shelf life? if so, at what percentage?
Thanks,
Author
HI Luna, my recipes are naturals and I don’t use chemicals preservatives, sorry! Essential oils do help controlling bacteria and extend shelve life but as I mention, it is always better to do small batches as you need.
Does it have to be refined shea butter, can I do this with unrefined?
Author
Hi Pallavi, yes most definitely! You might not have the exact same texture but using raw butters are much better for the skin.
what natural emulsifiers can i use?
Author
Beeswax is one!
Hi Eve
How long does this last for? I know water added into recipes can minimize the expiry date.
Thank you for your amazing recipes.
Author
Hi Ashlyn, its best to use within one month and keep in the fridge.
Is there a substitute for the Aloe Vera Juice?
Author
Hi Lynne, you can use hydrosols also called flower water from rose, orange blossom or other plants.
Can we use carrot seeds powder? Directly? In spite of using carrot seeds oil? What differnece it would make?
Author
HI Shirin, if you use a carrot seed powder you need to dilute it with an oil otherwise it will change the whole ratio of the recipe. Check the label of your product to see how to dilute it in oil.
Sounds good though..also I have carrot powder at home..which is prepared by sun drying method of carrot.if I want to use that for the cream? Would it give the same effect? Also how much quantity should I use of carrot powder?
Author
HI Shirin, what you could do is create an infused oil (dilute it in almond or jojoba oil) with the carrot powder and leave it in front of a warm window seal (inside your house) and let it infused naturally for 2 to 3 weeks. Then strain the oil to remove the carrot powder and use the oil only in your cream.
Would this be suitable for sensative skin?
Author
Hi Tatum, yes its suitable for sensitive skin but its always a good idea to do a patch test to see if there are any skin reaction. Also I would skin the essential oils if your skin is extremely sensitive.
i need one battle
What is THE shelf life of this cream
Author
Hi Kim, Use this cream within 1 to max 2 months, its always best to make small batches of creams.
“A word of caution about infused carrot oil, does not use more than 5% dilution in your cream, using it at 100% may cause an orange discoloration of the skin”
Could you please shed more light on above statement? Should the carrot oil be diluted? What with? What proportion?
Thank u so much
Chayil
Author
Hi Chayil, follow the recipe with the same proportion and you won’t have any problems. It is using 5% of the infused carrot oil.
I like your blog. Can I use fresh carrot juice on my lotion and cream?
Author
Hi Omar,
Its best to use carrot infused oil as fresh carrot juice would spoil very easily and you will need to keep in the fridge and use within less than a week.
Hello i need help in my new recipe of face cream
Author
Hi ayokens, how can I help you?
When is the beeswax added?
Do you mean.., “the aloe Vera juice” , is for people with wet phase ? , and the natural infused is meant for oil skin … Or all this are going to be combine together ?,, pls explain … Thanks
Author
Hi Virgin, all the ingredients in this recipe should be combined together!
I’m sorry I’m very confused too on this recipe. Wet phase? And i have essential oils but where do I get carrot oil?
Author
HI Adrien, water phase = hydrosol or aloe vera. Oil phase = all the oil ingredients. You can get carrot seed oil on amazon here: http://amzn.to/2mGz07W
