Beard balm is a must-have to keep your husband, father or grandfather beard looking neat and tidy. It conditions hairs and helps them to stay in place so that your loved one looks well-groomed and handsome! This beard balm recipe helps to soften, condition and repair dry or coarse hair as well as nourish new hair growth.
In this recipe, I’ve chosen to use castor oil, sunflower oil, beeswax, and shea butter as all natural ingredients. It makes a great gift as well and beard balm has the same benefits as beard oil with the addition of added styling power. I’ve also added a masculine scent with a blend of essential oil that takes this beard balm recipe with beeswax to the next level!
Beard oil is usually liquid in form and consists of nourishing oils that condition the hair on your face. It may include light oils such as jojoba oil and essential oils for scent. Beard balm also includes oils, but with the addition of wax, and usually a thicker oil like Shea butter. This produces a firmer balm that can be worked in the hands before applying to the beard.
By rubbing this beard balm recipe between your hands, the warmth softens the balm enough to work through your facial hair. You can then shape or style your beard, and when the balm cools, the wax will help to keep your hair in place! This gives you the best of both worlds as you get nourishment and styling power for your beard.
The wax is thicker than the balm and is ideal for styling and controlling stray hairs.
Beard balm is easy to make at home! This gives you the benefit of choosing high-quality, non-toxic ingredients and can also end up saving you money. Commercial beard balms tend to be boutique items that run a bit higher in price. But, if you make your own, you can simply buy all the ingredients and make much larger quantities for yourself at a cheaper price point. Plus, ladies, what makes a better gift than homemade grooming products? And you can choose scents for your man that you love!
If you are running out of time and prefer to buy beard balm online, I suggest the Honest Amish Beard Balm Leave-in Conditioner – All Natural and vegan that you can buy this beard balm on Amazon for $30 here.
