Making your own homemade body oil recipe blend is the easiest thing you can make in your kitchen; even if you don’t know how to make a simple vinaigrette, I can assure you can make this body oil recipe!
I’ve chosen organic oils that are lightweight, non-greasy yet deeply moisturizing in this body oil recipe: jojoba oil, camellia seed oil and safflower oil.
This body oil recipe blend is best applied right after your shower so you can lock in the moisture for the day. Oh and its super kind on your wallet too, details of price below!
Jojoba oil is actually a liquid plant wax and very similar to our skin sebum. It is emollient, great against wrinkles and will penetrate your skin easily without leaving an oil film. Oh and it’s has a natural 4 SFP!
As I mentioned before, camellia seed oil is my all-time favourite carrier oil, it comes from the tea tree and has been used for centuries in Japan. Camellia seed oil is a great antioxidant, plus it has anti-microbial and anti –inflammatory properties. It does not smell like anything, is easily absorbed by the skin and leaves it silky smooth!
Safflower oil has great benefits for the skin as it contains a high content of omega-6 fatty acids which increases the regeneration of new skin cells. It is also soothing and anti-inflammatory and lightweight. The organic safflower carrier oil is not expensive which also makes it a great addition to a body oil recipe blend!
So you may wonder how much this cost and is it worth it to buy carrier oil in bulk to make your own body oil blend?
I’ve broken down the cost below so you don’t have to do the maths!
Cost of organic carrier oil on amazon.com
250 ml 8 oz organic golden jojoba oil = $26
250 ml 8 oz organic camelia seed oil = $16
500 ml 16 oz organic safflower oil = $17
Total cost: $59 for 1L of organic carrier oils
The cost for one 100 ml body oil recipe is only $6 dollars!
You can make the whole batch and give them as a gift or use them throughout the year.
Isn’t’ this a pretty inexpensive way of moisturizing your skin without any chemicals!?
If you were to buy an already made organic body oil blend in stores, the cost of a 100ml bottle would probably be twice the price and you would have no idea in which concentration they used the best quality oils.
The truth is that most companies would use the cheapest oil in highest concentration and only use low percentage of more expensive carrier oil so they make more profit. Yes sadly it’s often all about the money but I guess you are not learning anything new here!
Please note, prices above may change and are not guaranteed. All prices are from amazon.com and as per the date, this blog post was written on January 15th 2016.
