Carrot seed oil is high in Vitamin A and E, beta carotene and also contains carotenoid which provides natural protection against the effect of UV radiation; it will give your skin a discreet and natural golden glow. This Carrot Face Cream Recipe is also full of antioxidants which make it a perfect every day anti-wrinkle cream. I have added aloe Vera to help with acne and to repair the skin.
The essential oils are optional but are a great combo for a natural anti-aging face cream.
If carrots are not your things, take a look at my other face cream recipes. Enjoy!
Aloe vera juice comes from a type of succulent plant that likely originated in Africa. It contains a healing gel inside of its spiky leaves that is a natural anti-inflammatory and soothing agent for the skin. It’s high in antioxidants so that it has an anti-aging effect, and is also naturally antibacterial, making it ideal for treating acne. It’s high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as B vitamins. When purchasing aloe vera juice, look for one that’s certified organic by a third party and that is 100% aloe vera juice.
Carrot seed oil is made from pressing the seeds of the carrot plant. Often labeled as cold-pressed carrot seed oil, be sure to choose this one over carrot seed essential oil. The carrot seed essential oil is made from the seeds of the Queen Anne’s Lace plant and has different properties. Carrot seed oil is high in vitamins and antioxidants that nourish the skin. It is a moisturizing oil that helps to repair and rejuvenate the skin. It also improves skin elasticity making it ideal for anti-aging face creams. Look for cold-pressed oils that are 100% carrot seed oil.
Camellia seed oil comes from the seeds of the camellia flower. It originated in China and is the secret behind mand ancient Asian beauty practices. It’s a non-greasy oil that keep skin smooth and supple. Its high content of Omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid and palmitic acid nourish skin and help to improve its elasticity. The camellia plant is also the same plant green tea comes from, so its oil is high in antioxidants that nourish and protect the skin.
Shea butter is a nourishing nut butter made from the African shea tree. In this recipe, I use refined shea butter instead of raw shea butter. While raw shea butter has more nutritive properties, I do not like the strong smell in this recipe. The refined shea butter also lends a smoother texture while still adding nourishing fatty acids and vitamin E that help to form a protective barrier on the skin. Be careful to check labels when purchasing refined shea butter to make sure that it is not mixed with anything else.
Carrot seed essential oil is also called for in this recipe. Don’t confuse it with the carrot seed oil! Carrot seed essential oil stimulates cell renewal, helping it to fight wrinkles. It repairs damaged skin and can be beneficial for conditions like rosacea, and it’s also a natural antifungal. When purchasing carrot seed essential oil, look for a 100% distillation.
Lavender, rose geranium and frankincense essential oils are plant-derived oils that lend a pleasant fragrance and additionally nutritive properties to this recipe. Lavender essential oil is naturally soothing to the skin and reduces redness.
Rose geranium essential oil helps to prevent pores from becoming clogged and can help to reduce acne.
Frankincense essential oil has long been lauded for its anti-aging properties. It helps to tighten skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
For the highest quality essential oils look for 100% distillations that have not been blended with carrier oils and look for organic certification by a credible third party.

Hi eve,
how long would this mixture last for without preservatives? Does it need to be kept in the fridge? will it become contaminated if water gets in the jar?
Hello Eve just wondering if there is a substitute for the bee's wax. I would like to make the cream vegan.
Just purchasing the ingredients to make a couple of your recipes. I'm very excited to try these out. Beautiful, natural and the ingredients ethically sourced. I will feel so good using them. Thank you.
Is it possible to make this recipe without the aloe Vera gel?
yes but it would be much thicker and more like a butter instead of a cream. You could use a hydrosol (rose for example) instead of aloe vera!
Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I had purchased carrot seed oil and rosehip oil from an essential oil wholesaler. How many drops of rosehip oil should I add?
you could use rosehip oil instead of the camelia seed oil but this would change the recipe.
As for carrot seed oil, please follow the recipe, I use 1/2 a tsp of carrot seed oil.
Also, as mentioned, do not use more than 5% dilution in your cream, using it at 100% may cause an orange discoloration of the skin.
What if I want to make more of the face cream for store what preservative will I add
for natural preservatives, check out this blog post https://www.organic-beauty-recipes.com/top-3-natural-preservatives-diy-beauty/
For stores, you won't have a choice but using chemical preservatives, this is why I recommend making your own DIY products.
Hi, can I put more drops of carrot seed oil? Is it too strong that you have only put 2 drops? Can I also add frankincense? If so, how many drops? Thank you
I personally don't like the scent of carrot scent essential oil, 2 drops is enough. Less is more for essential oils.
Please ma'am i was fair before but now dark, what can i use to get back my fair colour
pls,I would like to make this cream but where exactly can I can the ingredients here in abuja
This is the first time ever i tried to make my own lotion. after the mixture cooled to room temperature, I tried to use it, and it has tiny beeswax pellets. I applied it to my skin, and the tiny beeswax pellets did not absorb. I wiped them off with a towel. i really like it otherwise. do you have an advice on how to get better consistency?
Hi Marina, are you sure its beeswax pellets?
You need to ensure you have completely melted all the ingredients before starting mixing to start the emulsification process.
sometimes the shea butter gives a grainy feeling if you use the raw shea butter. That's why I prefer to use refine shea butter.
If you use distilled aloe Vera available in decent health food stores - you'll get a longer shelf life. I've learned this from experience.
I've had some people state that they think distilled aloe isn't very useful. I've actually found the exact opposite. It's a great addition to natural products which allows the use of less preservatives.
I love this recipe I tried it today and it came out great!
awesome! thanks cristina :-)
