This cocoa butter lotion recipe contains no beeswax and is easily done whipped. Cocoa Butter is naturally rich in Vitamin E as well as a number of other vitamins and minerals. Vitamin E helps to soothe, hydrate, and balance the skin and also provides the skin collagen which assists with wrinkles and other signs of aging. It is a rich body butter perfect for dry skin and for preventing stretch marks.
For this cocoa butter lotion recipe, if you would like the chocolate scent, make sure you buy unrefined cocoa butter, the refined version will loose its yummy natural chocolate scent!

Can aloe vera juice be replaced with aloe vera gel?
Hi eve, Can this recipe be used by a light skinned and a dark skinned person?
This is a great recipe! I love it ! But what really makes this lotion white in color?
Hi Eve,
What is the purpose of the protein powder here? Is it to thicken or make the cream less greasy? Can corn starch be substituted? Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Hi zenah, its optional but silk protein helps with moisture and smoothness. It also brings a shimmering quality that brings radiance to the skin.
Hey Eve!
I bought unrefined raw cocoa butter but it is too hard (even at room temp) to scoop "tablespoons" of. I have a weight scale so is there a equivalent in grams that I can use?
Hey Matthew! I suggest you grate it with a microplane or simply put it in a fash blender (like ninja or vitamix). That will be more accurate than me trying to figure out a weight.
Hi Eve, i have just found your website whilst looking for a recipe for cocoa butter moisturising cream, and I was curious if I could substitute the camillia seed oil or safflower oil for coconut oil or rice bran oil and if I could which would be preferable?
Hi, if you change the oils it will change the texture of the recipe. Rice bran oil is a slow absorbing oil and will make the lotion heavier. Coconut oil has a low melting point and average speed skin absorption. You could always experiment but be away it will change the recipe end results!
Thanks so much, really appreciate it! I Guess I'll just have to look into getting some of those :P
Hi There!
I am going to do this with camellia, cacao butter, aloe vera and blue tansy! I have eczema and blue tansy is a life saver. I would also like to add some shea butter. Instead of 4 tbsp of cacao, could I do 2 tbsp of cacao and 2 tbsp of shea, or would you recommend a different ratio?
Thanks! Sarah
Hi Sarah, yes you can do 50/50 shea butter cocoa butter as you mentioned. Just understand it will change the texture of the recipe but it should work out just fine.
Can I make this with Cacao Butter and Cameline oil instead and just leave out the Aloe Vera?
yes you can but understand it will change the texture and it won't be the same recipe.
Please, what can i add to this recipe to brighten my skin a bit because, my skin looks dull and dry

Hi Martha, I assume you mean your face? my favorite recipe is my face serum for dry and dull skin: https://www.organic-beauty-recipes.com/diy-face-serum-recipe-anti-wrinkles-with-essential-oils/
Hey there,
can i make this with 3 ingredients only?
cocoa butter, olive oil and lavender essential oil.
I don't recommend using olive oil for body lotion as it will be way too greasy. Best to stick to my recipe above for best results.
