Attention to all tea addicts! Did you know that the benefits of matcha on skin are plenty? Yes! This matcha sugar scrub recipe does wonders for your skin!
I also love a matcha shot in the morning which helps me being focused and relaxed at the same time.
You can read more on this topic on this very interesting article of the daily tea.
Matcha contains antioxidant (polyphenols and catechins) which battles against the harmful effects of UV radiation and free radicals. Antioxidants also help slowing down the aging process and relieve inflammation.
Matcha has a very high amount of chlorophyll which is an amazing toxin cleanser. The greener and more vibrant the matcha is, the more chlorophyll content matcha has. Did you know that in the last few weeks before harvest, the matcha shrubs are kept in the shade so the leaves increase their chlorophyll protection?
Matcha is a great detoxifier and will make your skin glow. It also helps to repair the effect of aging.
I also had some green tea extract on hand which add some extra antioxidants to this matcha sugar scrub recipe. This is really optional as matcha already contains a very high amount of antioxidants!
When using extract, take care of following the instruction of the manufacturer and to never increase the recommended amount.
Since I’m in love with earl grey, I’ve added a little bit of bergamot essential oil. Bergamot essential oil is phototoxic so (unless you get the kind that is bergapten free) make sure you wash your skin well and avoid sun exposure right after exfoliating just to be on the safe side. Essential oils are always optional but they take your scrub to the next level!

Hey!! So, I just finished reading your amazing article about the matcha scrub, but I just had a quick question about the usage of it. So, I was just wondering if it was safe or good for the skin to be using the scrub everyday or is we are allowed to use it in replace of soap. Thank you so much for your time and I hope to hear from you momentarily.
Can we use a preservative to ensure it lasts longer andcwhat would be the difference if using refined coconut oil? I always read coconut oil clogs pores, because this is a scrub and not a face cream, are the benefits different? Thanks for your tips and tricks:)
This will last a few months since there is no water content. I don't recommend using preservatives as they are chemicals.
I would not use coconut oil in a face cream but on a face scrub its different because you are scrubbing and eventually you should rinse your face after.
If you want you can use jojoba oil instead if you have acne prone skin.
